Trying to get Skype video calling running on the Galaxy Tab of my mother-in-law, it took me multiple hours to get the fucking Samsung “Kies” software running on my Mac, which is needed for the Gingerbread update, which in turn is needed for video calling.

Durch eine Diskussion mit Max wurde ich dazu gebracht, nochmal über das PHP-lässt-mich-wilde-Sachen-machen-Problem nachzudenken, und tatsächlich gibt es eine simple – wenn auch nicht besonders hübsche – Lösung, die ich hier mal in Java darlege:

Ich habe gerade einen virtuellen Server von Hosteurope zu Linode umgezogen, da bei HE alles äußerst zäh geworden war. Eine Python-WebApp war unbenutzbar, weil selbst das Zusammenbauen simplester Views bei jedem Request über 500ms gedauert hat!
Bei Linode hingegen flutscht wieder alles sehr schön und das, obwohl die Netzwerk-RTT ca. 10-15ms höher ist (ist halt London statt Köln).

CalDAV – over-engineering at its best! →
Ich bin ja enorm froh, dass es mit CalDAV endlich einen Standard gibt, der sich mittlerweile überall durchgesetzt, aber an muss schon ziemlich hartgesotten sein, um iCalendar in WebDAV in XML in HTTP zu packen! Kein Wunder, dass Google Tasks immer noch nicht über die Google-Calendar-CalDAV-Schnitstelle synchronisiert werden kann.
In obigem Beispiel ist auch ziemlich geil, wie bei der Abfrage die...
